Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a story on my business published in the MBJ/LBJ?
Simply e-mail your story idea or brief background information on the business to email@example.com. Please include any relevant press releases/news. Our editors will review each idea and consider its newsworthiness. Should we decide to pursue the submitted story ideas, the business/org/person suggested will be contacted as our schedule allows or kept on file to be pursued at a later date.
Where do I send press releases?
E-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. Head and shoulders photos of those included in the press release are welcomed. Popular content for press releases includes new hires, promotions, new businesses, expansions, relocations, professional certifications, awards, meetings and events, health care, education and nonprofit activities. Please include the general who, what, where, why, and when for the press release/event, as well as the contact information of who can be reached regarding any further information on the subject/event.
How much does it cost to place an announcement in the paper?
We publish press releases free of charge, subject to MBJ editing for style and length.
What are your deadlines for press releases?
We request press releases be sent two to three Fridays before the publication date you would like to target. Depending on space available, it may take a few weeks for publication.
I was interviewed by the MBJ/LBJ, how do I obtain a copy of the article?
Issues of the MBJ/LBJ are available for purchase in our Omaha office, 1308 S. 119th St., for $2 each. To request that an issue be mailed to you, please contact our office at 330-1760 for more instructions.
How do I obtain a reprint of an article or photo?
Contact Julie Whitehead in our office, 330-1760, or e-mail email@example.com for reprint pricing and information. It is a violation of copyright law to reproduce an MBJ article on a Website without our permission.
Do advertisers receive a free article in the paper?
While we greatly appreciate our advertisers, the editorial and advertising departments are kept separate. Placing an advertisement does not guarantee a story will be written, however we will be more than happy to submit it to our editors for consideration.
How do I nominate someone for the 40 Under 40 Awards?
When we begin accepting official nominations we will publish the form in the MBJ and post it on our Website. The MBJ event typically takes place in winter, so look out for the nomination forms starting in early fall.
Can I make a suggestion for the Business Minute feature?
