Want to make a difference in your community? Here’s your chance! At noon on Sunday, May 7th, ALS in the Heartland will bring their annual Walk and Rally for Hope to Baxter Arena to help spread awareness and raise support for people whose lives have been forever altered by ALS.
ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a progressive, terminal disease. With it, individuals maintain their minds, but progressively lose control of all muscle movement—eventually including the ability to swallow, speak, and breathe. With personalities and memories still intact, but all physical functions robbed from them in succession, sufferers literally become trapped in their own bodies. Life expectancy does not typically exceed 5 years.
ALS in the Heartland is a nonprofit agency that helps individuals and their loved ones impacted by ALS have the highest quality of lives possible. Services—including equipment loans, a respite program, and children’s grants—are all at no cost to those being served.
ALS in the Heartland is not affiliated with a national association. Therefore, all proceeds go to solely and immediately help people right here, right now.
ALS in the Heartland serves several families in our community. Local businesses have jumped on board with support as well. Orthomedics is the proud Lou Gehrig Sponsor for our walk this year!
We would love for you to attend our Walk and Rally for Hope on Sunday, May 7th. This is a family-friendly event, and all are welcome! There will be food, refreshments, games, a DJ, a bouncy house for kids and a raffle! Walking is completely optional, but the path is handicapped-accessible should you choose to do so.

If you cannot attend but would like to send support, visit our website or mail checks to: ALS in the Heartland, 1320 S. 119th Street, Omaha, NE 68144.
