Excitement Soars: Guardians of Freedom Airshow Coming Aug. 26

Lincoln is gearing up for an eventful August and our team is diligently preparing to welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors to our community for several large national events, including the highly-anticipated Guardians of Freedom Airshow on August 26 – 27. This event, which is hosted in partnership with the Nebraska Military Department (Air and Army National Guard),  the 55th Wing at Offutt Air Force Base, and the Lincoln Airport Authority, continues Lincoln’s impressive history of successfully hosting airshows at the Lincoln Airport and includes new opportunities for attendees to elevate their airshow experience.

While the Guardians of Freedom Airshow is a free community event, premium seating tickets are available for purchase in advance of the show for the first time. This new, exclusive ticket option offers attendees the opportunity to enjoy flightline views from a shaded tent with seats and catered meals provided. We are so excited to present this elevated experience option to airshow enthusiasts, families, visitors, and guests and encourage community members to purchase tickets soon at lincolnairshow.com, as premium seating is limited. 

This year’s family-friendly airshow will be headlined by the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels and includes other first-class performers, exhibits, stunts, displays, and activities. In addition to a kid zone sponsored by Ameritas and STEM activities sponsored by Doane University, Lincoln Electric System, and Kinetic by Windstream. The Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development will also be hosting a career fair at the show. And, in celebration of the 30th year anniversary of the Nebraska National Guard’s partnership program, members of the Czech Republic’s military, honor guard, band, and parachute team will also play a unique role in the event. 

Additional opportunities exist for individuals, groups, and businesses to get involved in the airshow, which is the Midwest’s premier aviation event, expected to host over 250,000 spectators.
