Greater Omaha Chamber: The First Stop for All Things Business!

It’s safe to say our Economic Development Department is The First Stop for All Things Business! Vetta

The Greater Omaha Chamber has a team of two dozen professionals focused on helping your business grow right here at home!

We are home to an eight-county economic development partnership including:

• Advance Southwest Iowa Corporation
• Mills County Economic Development Foundation
• Cass County Economic Development Council
• Gateway Development Corporation
• Greater Fremont Development Council
• Nebraska City Area Economic Development Corporation
• Sarpy County and Grow Sarpy

Working collaboratively across governmental boundaries, our collective mission is to create jobs and encourage capital investment in the metropolitan region which is a true benefit for all. And in 2022, we more than lived up to that promise:

• 61 landed projects
• $2.15 billion capital investment
• 7,871 new and retained jobs
• $112.4 million new payroll created from landed projects

Omaha was also chosen by MIT to participate in their Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program (REACH), where a diverse team representing Omaha’s startup ecosystem worked alongside other communities to identify and amplify key elements for entrepreneurs.

The REACH program provided hundreds of hours of education and support to business owners, helping them achieve greater success. In all, we remained dedicated to providing tools and resources to small and medium businesses throughout the community.

All this adds up to Omaha’s distinction as a place where businesses can grow and flourish. We are also a cultural hub, drawing creative and talented people from all over the globe. World-class museums, Broadway-caliber productions, dance companies and renowned symphonies are just a few of the dynamic offerings our community embraces.

That’s why the region is home to more than 45,000 businesses, including the headquarters of Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 companies, Omaha’s pro-business climate is perpetually sunny thanks to a moderate tax rate, low cost of living, and a high quality of life. The number of college graduates residing in Omaha is 4.2% higher than the national average.

That means we have smarts to go with our Midwestern grit.

And yes, while we’re smack dab in the middle of America’s agricultural heartland, Omaha attracts business from a variety of growing industries, like:

• MedTech & Life Science
• Financial Services
• Logistics & Manufacturing
• Agribusiness & BioChem
• Military & Defense

Out here, we speak business. That’s why our region is an attractive hub for international businesses as well. International trade in Nebraska and Iowa sustains over 710,000 jobs and creates more than $30 billion in imports and exports.

We are an ideal central location for companies to reach their customers quickly and efficiently. 9.2 million people live within 250 miles with average earnings approaching $200 billion.

Could your business benefit from our information or expertise? We can help! We also love referrals – so if you know of a company who is looking to relocate to the Midwest, let us know!
