MAC Foundation Opens Enrollment for Rising CEOs

The MAC Foundation, in collaboration with the Midlands African Chamber, Inc. (MAC), has opened enrollment for the second cohort of the Rising CEOs program. The program offers refugee, immigrant and minority high school students an opportunity to develop entrepreneurial skills. The program will include a series of workshops, panel discussions and interactive sessions, led by industry leaders. 

The program will take place over 10 weeks starting Aug. 24 at the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center on the University of Nebraska at Omaha campus. Students can apply at https://fundmac.org/rising-ceos-application-form. 

 

Small Business Pitch Competition REV Seeks Applications 

TS Bank, Advance Southwest Iowa Corporation and other local companies have teamed up to host REV, a small business competition. Entrepreneurs will compete for $15,000. A third-party committee will select up to five businesses to pitch in front of a judges panel and live audience on Nov. 2 at the Hoff Family Arts and Culture Center. 

Small businesses can apply at www.tsbank.com/rev until Sept. 10. Started in 2015, REV has awarded more than $114,000 to participants.

 

SBA Takes Entrepreneur Road Tour to Lincoln

The U.S. Small Business Administration will be touring the Midwest to connect with entrepreneurs working on advanced technology with America’s Seed Fund. The fund is an effort of the Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs. Each year the program provides over $4 billion in funding from 11 federal agencies. 

The tour will make its stop in Lincoln on July 20, at the Howard L. Hawks Hall at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Each stop is hosted by SBA’s Federal and State Technology Partners. Small business owners will meet with federal agency representatives.
