Leadership Council Bluffs Presenting Class 35

For 35 years, the Council Bluffs Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Leadership Council Bluffs Alumni Association, has been helping to grow and develop leaders in the Council Bluffs community through the program Leadership Council Bluffs (LCB).

LCB is an opportunity for networking, growth, professional development, community engagement, and so much more.

The CB Chamber is proud to announce the graduates of Class 35: Pam Bierce, Iowa West Foundation; Amy Brown, Slate Architecture; Christine Circo, Pottawattamie County; Jennifer Coyle, Flat Branch Home Loans; Traci Dresher, TS Bank; Jessica Duncan, Alzheimer’s Association; Walter Garcia Rodriguez, Omaha/Council Bluffs Bridges Out of Poverty; Linda Gomez, American National Bank; Jonathan Holland, Children’s Square USA; Stacie Jensen, City of Council Bluffs; Blake Johnson, Habitat for Humanity; Vivian Kvam, Tandem Works, Mac&V; Matt Mancuso, Iowa Western Community College; Katherine Martens, US Bank; Shawn Miller, New Visions Homeless Services; Sarah Beth Ray, Council Bluffs Area Chamber of Commerce; Christy Sauser, Dickinson & Clark CPAs; Anne Schoening, CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs; Jailey Simpson, Simpson Legal Group; Sara Starr, Holiday Inn & Suites; Shanna Stofer, Methodist Jennie Edmundson; Molly Stogdill, Council Bluffs Schools Foundation; Jared Tripp, Berkley Risk; Angie Williams, Micah House; Kelsey Wittorf, Omni Dental Centre.

From the opening retreat to graduation day, this dynamic group of leaders learned everything about Council Bluffs from education to government to health care. LCB sessions are designed to provide participants with an overview of the accomplishments and challenges facing Council Bluffs by exposing participants to presentations and discussions with current leaders, experiencing behind-the-scenes tours, and networking with community decision-makers.

Class 35 recently reflected on their experience.

“The Chamber provides an opportunity for community leaders to accomplish two vitally important goals; to better understand our community’s strengths and needs, and to collaborate to meet those needs to create a better place for all of us to live, work and play. There truly is no better way than Leadership to meet the challenges of tomorrow and celebrate the accomplishments of today,” said Christine Circo, Pottawattamie County.

Vivian Kvam, TandemWorks, said, “The CB Leadership program is a transformative experience that not only enriched my own understanding of our community but also equipped me with more tools to make a meaningful impact. As a business owner and resident, I had the privilege of gaining unique insights and developing a sense of responsibility towards Council Bluffs.”

CHAMBER GROWTH

The Council Bluffs Area Chamber of Commerce also facilitates Youth Leadership Council Bluffs (YLCB). Modeled after the adult leadership program, Leadership Council Bluffs, YLCB is designed to develop the younger leaders in our community and build strong leaders of tomorrow.

High school students in Pottawattamie County are eligible to apply their sophomore year to participate as juniors. Candidates for the program are interviewed by a panel of graduates from the adult Leadership Council Bluffs program.

YLCB is a hands-on opportunity to explore careers and community assets of Council Bluffs. The goal of YLCB is to create community-minded future employers, entrepreneurs, citizens, and leaders of the next generation, while also building the investment that our youth have in their hometown.

YLCB graduated Class 17 in May of this year and the CB Chamber will announce Class 18 in August.
